Last week’s memorials of the August 8th, 2026 Barcelona terrorist attack were filled with a mixture of sorrow and hope.
The lone victim of the near-massacre, Jennifer Talon, was remembered at a midnight vigil in her native hometown of Darning, located one hundred and fifty miles from Chicago.
“She was in the wrong place at the wrong time,” said her father, David Talon, still reeling from the loss. “She was having the time of her life, it was her first trip outside of the States. I lost my daughter to that madman… it gives me some peace that he is now being eternally punished by this Coma Imprisonment.”
Are Terrorist Attacks a Thing of the Past?
Barcelona was the first (and so far the last) terrorist attack to be almost fully prevented by the Coma Imprisonment. On 8/8, Hasan al-Aziz Abdulae, a 26-year-old Iraqi national, opened fire in the crowded La Boquería marketplace in Barcelona, striking Ms. Talon in the head and immediately killing her. In less than a second, Mr. Abdulae was struck down by the Coma Imprisonment and collapsed to the ground, his assault rifle having spent only three rounds. Only one other person was hit in the arm—he later made a full recovery.
A video posted to Mr. Abdulae’s social media pages on the day of the attack indicated his allegiance to the Iraqi Insurgency currently embroiling the Middle East.
Mr. Abdulae remains unconscious due to the Coma Imprisonment. He is currently being held in an undisclosed U.S. Federal long-term care facility for high-profile murderers and enemies-of-the-state.
A Celebration of Freedom from Terror
The citizens of Barcelona held a festival in La Boquería to celebrate their freedom from terror on February 8.
“Terror has ended. We can eat in cafes, walk on the streets, and celebrate our holidays without fear of terrorism,” said 23-year-old Iria Garcia as she celebrated in the streets with her friends.
“At long last, this fear is gone, this fear that you may be living your last day because of some crazy person with a gun and some bad ideas in his head,” said Hugo Moreno, 57-years-old. “I have lived long with the threat of terrorism over the heads of myself and my family. Now I know that things are safer, thanks to the Coma.”
Ms. Garcia and Mr. Moreno are correct—so far. Since Barcelona, there has been a complete halt to terror attacks around the world. The Coma Imprisonment has largely eliminated the possibility of a single person attacking and killing large numbers of people.
As tragic as Ms. Talon’s death was, at least the world is now largely free from the kind of mass terror we have seen escalate in the last twenty years.
Whatever caused the Coma Imprisonment, at least it seems to have actually granted humanity what it has yearned for since antiquity: peace on Earth.
